How can I tell if my router can power 1 Gbps fiber internet?

To check if your router can handle a 1 Gbps or internet connection, look for the term “gigabit” in its specifications, either on the router itself, in the manual, or on the manufacturer’s website; if the router’s LAN and WAN ports are listed as supporting 1000 Mbps, then it is capable of handling a 1 Gbps internet connection. Also important:

Look for “gigabit” in the description:

Most manufacturers will explicitly mention “gigabit” in the router’s name or description if it can handle high speeds.

Check the port speeds:

On the router’s specifications, verify that both the LAN and WAN ports are listed as supporting 1000 Mbps, which is equivalent to 1 gigabit.

Consult the manual or manufacturer’s website:

If you are unsure, consult the router’s user manual or visit the manufacturer’s website for detailed specifications.
